Illyria Mediterranean Restaurant – Exceptional Mediterranean Dining in Harrisonburg, VA

We had an excellent experience with Grace as our host for the evening at Illryia’s soft open. Among other things, we had the dates, branzino, tuna tartare, charcuterie, duck, and lamb, and three deserts. We also tried several of their cocktails and wines, which were all excellent. It’s a great place to have an excellent evening with family and friends!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere! I risked trying a new place for my birthday dinner and I am so glad we did! My husband and I love finding the good restaurants in this area and this one is now near the top of our list! Jimmy took good care of us, and was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We tried two things off of the list of specials for the night- the Barbounia (appetizer) and Snapper. I am always hesitant to try fish when I am not on the coast, but Jimmy assured me they do fish really well here! He was so right! The red snapper was some of the best fish I have had in a long time. My husband ordered the rack of lamb and he loved his meal too. I am celiac and they took extra care to make sure my food was safe. Although the menu is not marked with allergies, I did not have any problem finding options. I was assured that many things could be made gluten free. They swapped the pita out with veggies for the mediterranean spread. The dessert menu had ice cream and creme brulee for gluten free options as well as different drinks, including affogato. It is typical for most restaurants to only have these options but I think one way for any restaurant to shine is to offer the celiacs more options on the dessert menu. All around just a fabulous experience and we can't wait to go back!

What a great restaurant! Our party of 4 had a lovely evening at Illyria. We each had a glass of wine. For appetizers we had the sampler, dates and calamari. It was truly the best calamari I’ve ever eaten. I had the sweet potato gnocchi for dinner, which was delicious but extremely filling. We had the beignets and baklava at our table for dessert. I was not all that impressed with the beignets and I wish I had chosen the chocolate cake or crème brûlée. Overall though it was a spectacular meal and I hope to come again soon!

We had our office Christmas party at Illyria and could not have had a better experience! The service was exceptional from start to finish. The menu was perfectly curated, presented, and executed--food was absolutely delicious also from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, festive, perfectly clean, and thoughtfully enhanced with a light, holiday music and a faux fire. It truly could not have been more perfect. Highly recommend if you're looking for an elegant and effortless special event experience--they make it so easy and exceeded expectations in every way! Thank you Illyria! We hope to be back!

Excellent dishes prepared by the very talented Jacob. The food is cooked to perfection, savory, and presented beautifully. The rock fish over cous cous with spinach was delicious. The affogato was presented with a nice sprinkling of pistachios on the top! There is an extensive mixed drink and wine menu to choose from to include seasonal specials like the Charlie Brown. Christina is a fabulous server, so lively and friendly she really helped make our evening enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who would like a special, upscale night out to enjoy great Mediterranean food with friends or loved ones.

Great experience overall with a few critics we could make : - cocktails were too strong you could only taste the alcohol - for a big table they should bring more pita bread to dip in the spread appetiser - baby arugula & roasted tomato with only 3 cherry tomatoes ? Too much cheese for the amount of vegetables for sure The rest was perfect and friendly staff ;)
